Berth charter Sailing trip in the Caribbean
The Grenadines are one of the southern islands of the "islands above the wind" in the Caribbean. These rich island groups of the Lesser Antilles can be reached by catamaran from Martinique within a day and are the ideal destination for a sailing holiday. Especially the proximity to the Tobago Cays makes Martinique an interesting starting point for a sailing trip on a catamaran. Constant trade winds, calm seas on the leeward sides of the islands and many anchor bays invite you to a dream holiday in the southern Caribbean. These conditions combined with a luxurious catamaran make the sea area the perfect destination for a berth charter sailing holiday, even for those new to sailing. The sailing trip leads through crystal clear water past the most beautiful islands of the Caribbean. Anchoring is in a dreamlike environment that is to fall in love with.
Itinerary
Day 1: Le Marin (Martinique)
From 18:00 pm we welcome all fellow sailors on board the catamaran and you move directly into your cabins. After the safety briefing and a joint dinner, the lines are cast off. The catamaran sets course south to Bequia (90 nm, approx. 13 h). Thanks to the predominantly north-easterly winds, all guests can experience the first night relaxed under sail. Sailing at night under Caribbean skies is a special experience.
Day 2: Bequia – Canouan (20 nm)
After the night crossing, the catamaran arrives in Port Elisabeth in the morning. Here there is enough time to stroll through the small village and absorb the first impressions of the Caribbean flair. Alternatively, you can take a jeep taxi to the beautiful beaches on the other side of the island. Meanwhile, the skipper will take care of the entry formalities. In the afternoon, the sailing trip continues to Canouan (20 nm, approx. 3 h) You will spend the night at anchor in a quiet bay.
Day 3: Canouan - Mayreau – Union Island (5 nm)
After breakfast, the anchor is weighed and the sails are set. The destination is the beautiful bay on Mayreau Island (5 nm, approx. 1h). You can expect turquoise water and a sandy beach lined with palm trees. In this dreamlike setting, you can spend the day relaxing and swimming or take a walk ashore. A popular destination is the Caribbean bar on the other side of the island. In the afternoon, the cruise continues to Union Island (5 nm, approx. 1h). The sunset is best enjoyed there at the famous floating cocktail bar Happy Island, where the local kite schools put on a spectacular show many evenings. For dinner, visit one of the Caribbean restaurants in town.
Day 4: Union Island – Tobago Cays (5 nm)
After breakfast, we leave Union Island for the jewel of the Grenadines, the Tobago Cays (10 nm, approx. 1.5 h). Protected by a surrounding reef, several small sand islands lie close together and form a fantastic anchorage. Turtles cavort in this dreamlike setting, so you can spend the whole day blissfully snorkelling, swimming, stand-up paddling and exploring the islands. In the evening, the next highlight awaits, where you can enjoy a Caribbean lobster BBQ on the beach and end the evening with a nice get-together.
Day 5: Tobago Cays – St. Vincent (30 nm)
After enjoying the morning once again in the Tobago Cays, the sailing trip takes you north to St. Vincent in the early afternoon (30 nm, approx. 5 h). In the south of the island you will spend the night at anchor in a beautiful bay.
Day 6: St. Vincent – St. Lucia (45 nm)
After an early breakfast, while the skipper completes the exit formalities for the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, there is the option of taking an island tour by taxi or visiting the capital and immersing yourself in everyday Caribbean life. At noon, the anchor is weighed and the sails are set heading north. The destination of the day is a bay in the south of St. Lucia (45 nm, approx. 7 h), where a stopover for the night is made.
Day 7: St. Lucia – Le Marin (Martinique) (40 nm)
The last section of the joint sailing tour is once again all about sailing. After a delicious breakfast, you will sail from St. Lucia to Martinique (40 nm, approx. 6 h). In the afternoon you will reach the anchorage of Saint Anne. Here you have the option of going ashore or enjoying another sunbath on the catamaran's net or doing water sports. You will spend the last evening having dinner together in a relaxed atmosphere on board.
Day 8: Le Marin (Martinique)
Early breakfast on board and a short 20-minute drive to Le Marin Marina. Disembarkation between 8 and 9 am. The airport is not far from the marina. After disembarking, you will have the opportunity to spend some time on the beach or to do your last errands in town before departure.
Everyday life on a berth charter sailing trip in the Caribbean
The berth charter sailing trip on a catamaran combines the comfort of an all-inclusive hotel with the variety of a cruise and the advantages of an individual holiday. Awakened by the warm Caribbean sun and lured by the fresh smell of coffee, the first fellow sailors emerge early in the morning from their large, private cabins with en-suite bathrooms. The clear water of the anchorage invites them to take a refreshing dive into the Caribbean Sea. Afterwards, the rest of the day's itinerary is discussed over a rich and varied breakfast. In the late morning, the sailing trip continues to the next dreamlike Caribbean island. During the time under sail you can actively sail along or relax at one of the many lounges. At noon, the cook will spoil you with a light lunch before the next destination of the berth charter sailing holiday is reached in the early afternoon. In the afternoon there is plenty of time for water sports, shore excursions or sunbathing. There is something for everyone. In the evening, the cook conjures up a culinary delicacy in the on-board catamaran kitchen. After an eventful day of sailing, the evening ends with a delicious rum punch in a cosy atmosphere on board.
