Catamaran Skipper Training - Intensive Training

Skippering a catamaran presents many experienced yacht sailors with new challenges. For this reason, intensive skipper training is just the right thing to prepare you for your first holiday on a catamaran.

Catamaran training is suitable for anyone who has already gained experience on sailing yachts and has a sufficient basic understanding of sailing.

The aim of the skipper training is to get to know the essential differences and special features of a catamaran compared to a sailing yacht within one day and to become familiar with simple harbour manoeuvres.

Schedule Skipper Training

At 9 a.m. all participants meet on board the catamaran in the marina Hohe Düne. After a short welcome, the day begins with each participant learning about the special features of a catamaran in the areas of technology, safety and seamanship. This is followed by the first harbour manoeuvres. The focus is on safe control of the catamaran in narrow harbours and mooring alongside. After a short lunch break, it's off to the Baltic Sea. Setting sail, sailing manoeuvres and, in good conditions, anchor manoeuvres are on the programme. Since all sailors are familiar with the basic manoeuvres, it is particularly important to learn the subtle differences between a sailing yacht and a catamaran. The last hours of the catamaran training are once again devoted entirely to harbour manoeuvres. The aim of the training is that all participants leave the boat with a good basic understanding of the catamaran and are ready to charter their first small catamaran themselves on their next holiday.
